Jaw crusher: how does it work?

With the development of mining and mining industry, more and more types of crushers have been invented and produced. How much do you know about the various crushers on the market? Today, I will show you a traditional crusher that is still easy to use and is still active in major crushing sites –jaw crusher

What is a jaw crusher?

Before understanding jaw crusher, let’s first understand what is a crusher, we are talking about industrial crusher here! A crusher is a mining machine that helps break the size of larger materials such as rock and gravel into smaller rocks or rock dust etc. Various types of crushers are used in various industrial applications and jaw crusher is one of them.

What types of jaw crushers are there?

As far as jaw crushers are concerned, although the structure types are different, their working principles are basically similar, but the movement trajectory of the movable jaw is different. When the movable jaw plate reciprocates periodically to the fixed jaw plate around the suspension shaft, sometimes it approaches and sometimes leaves, and when the movable jaw plate approaches the fixed jaw plate, the ore between the two jaw plates is crushed, It is broken by the combined action of splitting and bending and breaking; when the movable jaw plate leaves the fixed jaw plate, the crushed ore is discharged through the ore discharge port of the crusher under the action of gravity.

Why use a jaw crusher?

The purpose of using jaw crusher is to crush the mined ores, construction waste, etc. and reduce their volume. This facilitates transportation and storage, and also facilitates the separation of different minerals in the ore. Generally, crushing is divided into three stages, namely primary crushing, which is the first stage of crushing; secondary crushing, which is the second stage of crushing; tertiary crushing, which is the third stage of crushing. The jaw crusher is a crusher widely used in the primary crushing and secondary crushing stages, so jaw crushers are used in many places.

How does the jaw crusher work?

Working principle diagram of jaw crusher

The angular pulley driven by the motor rotates the eccentric shaft to make the movable jaw swing complexly. When the movable jaw moves up, the angle between the toggle plate and the movable jaw becomes larger, thereby pushing the movable jaw to approach the fixed jaw plate, and the material is squeezed, rubbed, ground, etc. A variety of crushing; when the movable jaw goes down, the movable jaw plate leaves the fixed jaw plate under the action of the pull rod and the spring, and the crushed materials are discharged from the lower opening of the crusher cavity.

What are the advantages of jaw crusher?

  1. Effectively solve the problem of high operation rate and no maintenance time of the original limestone crusher due to low output.
  2. It can complete the crushing of large pieces of limestone, and the maximum crushing particle size is 1000*1200mm, which effectively solves the original problem of “the shortage of limestone supply and the unusable storage of a large number of large pieces of limestone”.
  3. The mixing uniformity of the two materials is good, and the amount of desulfurized limestone added is greatly increased. The mixing amount can reach 60%, which effectively reduces the cost of raw materials.
  4. Power consumption has decreased. The electricity consumption of 1 ton of limestone can be reduced by 1-2KWh/t, which can save a lot of electricity bills every year.
  5. The particle size of the waste is small, only 2-15mm, which effectively solves the problem that the original limestone has a large particle size, often blocks the slide and even affects the output of the mill.

Which is better, jaw crusher or cone crusher?

cone crusher

The jaw crusher can meet the delivery of various material sizes, while the cone crusher has certain requirements for the material size, but the production capacity of the cone crusher is generally higher than that of the jaw crusher. Under the same feeding diameter, the cone crusher is generally larger than the jaw crusher, but the cone crusher can be used directly from the factory, and no other accessories are needed. The jaw crusher needs to add an ore bin and a feeder. . Therefore, both crushers have their own advantages and disadvantages.

What is the maintenance method of jaw crusher?

  1. Regularly close the jaw crusher and check the machine. When any stone crushing equipment is switched on and off, attention should be paid to regularly shutting down the jaw crusher and checking the wear conditions inside the machine, such as the central feeding pipe, cone cap, upper and lower flow channel lining plates of the impeller, circumferential guard plates, wear-resistant blocks The degree of wear and tear, replace the more seriously worn parts in time, and repair these parts. At the same time, pay attention to the weight, model and size of the replacement parts, and be sure to replace them according to the original parameters.
  2. Regular inspection of jaw crusher drive belt. The jaw crusher conveyor belt is indispensable in the stone production line, and the driving of the machine is the credit of the conveyor belt. Regularly adjust the tightness of the conveyor belt to ensure that the conveyor belt is evenly stressed. When driven by dual motors, the triangular tapes on both sides should be selected in groups, so that the length of each group is as consistent as possible. If you find that the drive belt is too worn, please replace it in time.
  3. Lubrication of mechanical parts. The jaw crusher adopts special grade automotive grease or 3 lithium base grease, and an appropriate amount of grease is added every 400 hours of operation; after 2000 hours of operation, the main shaft assembly is opened to clean the bearings; the general operation is 7200 hours to replace new bearings.
  4. In addition, in order to ensure the normal operation of the jaw crusher, in addition to the correct operation of the jaw crusher, planned maintenance must be carried out, including daily maintenance and inspection, minor repairs, medium repairs and major repairs.

How to operate jaw crusher safely?

  1. According to the conditions of use, a protective cover should be provided on the crushed stone rolling chute to prevent the crushed stone from collapsing from the rolling chute and hurting people.
  2. Before starting the machine, to remove the sundries in and around the crusher, all lubricating parts must be checked and moved several times by hand, and each part is flexible before starting the machine.
  3. When the crusher is working, it is strictly forbidden to take out the stones from the palate plate by hand. If there is any failure, use tools such as crowbar and iron hook to deal with it.
  4. If the machine stops due to the blockage of the material in the crushing chamber, the motor should be turned off immediately, and the machine should be started after the material is cleaned up.
  5. When adjusting the discharge port, the tightening spring should be loosened first. After the adjustment is completed, the tension of the spring should be properly adjusted and the bolts should be tightened to prevent the lining plate from falling off during operation.
  6. When the crusher is working, it is necessary to prevent stones from being embedded in the tension spring, which will affect the strength of the spring.

What are the precautions for using jaw crusher?

  1. The crusher can only be put into production after the normal operation of the crusher.
  2. The materials to be crushed should be evenly added into the crusher cavity, and side feeding or full feeding should be avoided to avoid unilateral overload or overload.
  3. During normal operation, the temperature rise of the bearing should not exceed 30℃, and the maximum temperature should not exceed 70℃. When the above temperature is exceeded, stop the vehicle immediately, find out the cause and eliminate it.
  4. Before stopping, the feeding should be stopped first, and the power can be turned off after the materials in the crushing chamber are completely discharged.
  5. During crushing, if the machine stops due to the blockage of the material in the crushing chamber, the power should be turned off immediately to stop the operation, and the material in the crushing chamber should be cleaned before starting again.
  6. After one end of the jaw plate is worn, the head can be adjusted for use.
  7. After the crusher has been used for a period of time, the tightening bushing should be loosened to damage the machine.

How to choose the right crusher for you?

The choice of crusher is not static. To find a crusher that suits you, you must first understand what operation you want to use the crusher for, what kind of stone you need to crush, what is your estimated production capacity, etc., according to your own Choose the crusher that suits your situation.

I believe that through this article, you already have a certain understanding of jaw crusher. If you still have some questions that have not been solved, you can leave a comment and we will answer them one by one. You are also welcome to continue to browse our other articles.
